System Parameters: System Tab

System parameters are settings that control how Aprimo operates in your environment. Some system parameters have preconfigured values that you can change to customize Aprimo to meet your organization's needs. You can edit system parameters when needed.

Tip:

To learn more about a system parameter, point to it to view a ScreenTip that contains this information:

  • A short description
  • The date when the system parameter was last modified
  • The user who last modified the system parameter
Caution:

If you edit a system parameter:

  • For Aprimo Marketing Studio 9.1, restart the Aprimo Utility Service and Internet Information Services (IIS) on each server in your environment.
  • Have users clear their web browser’s cache to ensure they see the changes.
Notes:
  • Be aware that most system parameters are domain-specific.

If your implementation uses multiple domains, you must log in to each domain separately and configure the system parameters.

  • Monitor disk space for user-created files.

Several system parameters are related to locations of user-created files. These include attachments, inbound forms, and update task pages. Depending on the number of users and how they use the system, they can create a large number of files. In many cases, Aprimo never automatically deletes these files. When you specify these files' locations, be sure the locations have ample disk space. Periodically check these locations to ensure they have sufficient room for future files.

  • Use the appropriate syntax for URLs and folders.

As you configure system parameters in Aprimo Marketing Studio 9.1, you specify URLs, paths, and folder names. Remember these guidelines:

    • When you specify a URL, start the address with http://.
    • When you specify a path, use Universal Naming Conventions (UNC).
Caution:

You can specify an absolute path. For example, an absolute path might start with C:\.

If you specify an absolute path for a system parameter, remember that this is a local folder on the Web server. If you use Aprimo in a multi-server environment, specifying an absolute path for a system parameter can prevent some features from working as expected.

The system tab contains the following sections:

Platform

System Parameter Description

Allow Extended Attributes to Appear in Multiple Sections

  • Enables an administrator to place activity extended attributes in multiple sections or tabs.
  • Disabling this system parameter does not affect or remove activity extended attributes that were configured to appear in multiple section or tabs while the parameter was enabled.
  • The default value is No.

Allow Undo of Configuration Mover Export Jobs

  • Determines whether the Undo Export button is available in the configuration mover's Export Configuration Jobs module. This enables users to delete export configuration job files not imported into the production data source.

Application Max Count

  • Specifies the maximum number of records a list page can display at 1 time. Setting this system parameter to limit the number of records helps prevent network performance from being adversely affected.
  • When a list contains more items than this system parameter specifies, links appear at the bottom of the page to provide access to the other records in the list. The Number of Page Links system parameter controls this aspect of list pages. The Number of Page Links system parameter and the Application Max Count system parameter work in conjunction to control list pages.
    Example:
You set Application Max Count to 50 and Number of Page Links to 5. Each page shows 50 items. The bottom of the page contains links to 5 additional pages of records.
  • The value you select must be from 1 to 200.

Application URL

Note:
This system parameter is available in Aprimo Marketing Studio 9.1 only.
  • Specifies the Aprimo Web address. Type a complete URL.
  • The default value is http://ServerName/AprimoMarketing.
    Caution:
If your Web environment is a load-balanced environment, the ServerName in the URL should be your load-balanced DNS name. The application's name in the URL must match, including case, the application's Web share name in the IIS Web server. For more information, contact a network administrator.

Apply Enhanced Audit Trail for Objects

Note:
This system parameter is available in Aprimo Cloud only.
  • Enables the enhanced audit trail for objects that support it, such as activities, programs, and digital assets. An enhanced audit trail tracks more actions, such as adding, updating, and deleting, than a standard audit trail. System administrators can specify which information is tracked in an enhanced audit trail.
  • Enables the Enhanced Audit Trail module in System Tools that administrators use to specify which attributes of an object are written to the object's audit trail.

Calendar Event Limit

  • Enables a system administrator to specify the number of events that appear on the calendar for a single month. The default setting is 600, and the maximum number allowed is 3,000.

Calendar Fiscal Year Start Month

  • Specifies the month that starts your organization's fiscal year.
  • Selecting January through June as the start month sets the fiscal year to the current year.
  • Selecting July through December as the start month sets the fiscal year to next year.

Calendar Limit

  • Specifies the maximum number of calendars users can create. If the maximum is reached, users must delete calendars before creating new ones. The default setting is 200, and the maximum number allowed is 500.

Command Timeout

  • Specifies the amount of time, in seconds, that Aprimo attempts to retrieve data before returning a message that the request has failed.

Company Logo URL

  • Specifies the Web address where you store your organization's logo graphic. The logo appears on the navigation columns. Type a complete URL.

Compute Processing Time

  • Determines whether to display the amount of time required to process pages throughout Aprimo.
  • Set this field to Yes for diagnostic purposes only.

Config Mover Backup Expiration Period (Min)

  • Requires a backup of your production database to be completed within the specified number of minutes before importing a configuration mover job.
    Note:
Aprimo does not write information to the database after each backup. To enable this parameter, you must configure your database to write each backup's time and storage directory to the dm_db_backup_hist table. For more information, see Back Up the Production Database in the Configuration Mover Guide.
  • Leave the field blank if you do not want to require backups before importing configuration jobs.

Encode and Display Titles by Language

  • Determines whether you can enter translated terms for encoded titles in the Translate Encoded Titles modules.
  • Users see encoded titles in the language they select in the My Profile module.

Export Max Count

  • Specifies the maximum number of records a user can export at 1 time.

File Upload Chunk Size (KB)

  • This parameter configures the size of chunks into which the application breaks each file uploaded via the File Uploader in the next generation interface.
  • You can set it to a value between 1000 KB and 1000000 KB. The default setting is 5000 KB.
    Caution:
Setting this parameter to a smaller chunk size increases requests to your server, which decreases performance. Setting it to a larger chunk size can result in long network request times and timeout errors.

Internal Notification From Address

  • Determines the email address from which notification email messages appear to originate. This parameter does not affect notifications coming from interactions.
    Notes:
    • In Aprimo Cloud, this field is read-only.
    • The address in this parameter appears in the From field of sent notifications. The email address of the user or service user who originated the notification appears in the Reply To field. Replies to the email message go to this email address. If the parameter is empty, the email address of the user or service user who originated the notification appears in the notification's From field. For more information, see Key Fields in Notification Management.
  • Any email messages originated from this email address must be able to be delivered to the recipients by your network. For example, you need to make sure that the email address is not blocked by any firewalls or Spam filters.

Lookup List Max Count

  • Specifies the maximum number of items to make available for selection from certain types of lists.
  • Users can filter a list that adheres to this system parameter to locate items not currently displayed.
  • The value you select must be from 1 to 400.
  • Specifies the maximum number of pages of records to make available for users to select when they view a list page.
    Example:
    • You set Application Max Count to 50 and Number of Page Links to 5.
    • Each page shows 50 items. The bottom of the page contains links to 5 additional pages of records.
  • This system parameter controls the interface users see but does not affect system performance.
  • In addition to this system parameter, be sure to complete the Application Max Count system parameter.
Show Extended Attribute System Name
  • Specifies whether a new column called ‘System Name’ shows on the extended attribute page with data types of Multiple Selection and Picklist.
    Note:

This is currently only used by customers who have configurable workflow enabled. In configurable workflow it will allow users to map an extended attribute to an Aprimo DAM field definition for metadata transfer on a workflow task.

Spell Check

  • Determines whether the spell check feature is available throughout Aprimo .

System Administrator's Email Address

  • Specifies the email address for the system administrator.
  • Aprimo uses this email address for these purposes:

    • Notification of a failed interaction
When problems occur with an interaction, Aprimo sends an email message to the system administrator to resolve the problem.
      Note:
Aprimo does not use the system administrator's email address as the return email address for email messages generated by interactions. It uses the system parameter for this purpose.
    • Notification of errors
When certain types of errors occur in Aprimo, the application sends an email notification that contains information about the error to a system administrator.

Temporary File Directory

Note:
This system parameter is available in Aprimo Marketing Studio 9.1 only.
  • Specifies the central folder in which to store these types of files:

    • Files created during the export process
    • Mail merge files created by an interaction's communicate step
    • Temporary files created when a user accesses a feature such as the Gantt Chart module
  • This is not the folder that stores attachment files and digital asset files. For information about how Aprimo handles these files, see the Aprimo Installation Guide.
  • If the temporary file directory is a network share, the Utility Service user must have permission to use network resources. For more information, see the Aprimo Installation Guide.
  • The AIM service user must be able to access this directory. For more information, see the Aprimo Installation Guide.

Temporary File URL

Note:
This system parameter is available in Aprimo Marketing Studio 9.1 only.
  • Specifies the Web address to the Temporary File Directory.
  • This is not the Web address for the folder that stores attachment files and digital asset files. For information about how Aprimo handles these files, see the Aprimo Installation Guide.

Security

You configure the system parameters in this section to specify the list of rights the security administrator can assign. For more information, see Creating a Security Administrator.

System Parameter Description
Additional Content-Security Policy(CSP) domains

CSP is a mechanism designed to add an additional layer of protection against injection attacks, such as Cross-Site Scripting (XSS). CSP achieves this by specifying limitations on which resources may be loaded and from where. For example, a compatible browser could be instructed to only execute scripts which are hosted on whitelisted domains.

This system parameter accepts multiple domains separated by a space. For each domain, two formats are supported: *.xyz.com or abc.xyz.com.

For example, to support two sites (site1 and site2) within in the domain xyz.com, the system parameter would be 'site1.xyz.com site2.xyz.com'. To support all sites in the domain xyz.com, the system parameter would be '*.xyz.com'

Common items added to this system parameter are domains of external logos, PowerBI reports, and Tableau reports.

Enable File Upload Whitelist

Note:
This system parameter is available in Aprimo Cloud only.
  • Set to Yes to limit the types of files users can upload. After enabling this parameter, in the File Upload Whitelist parameter, specify the extension for each file type users can upload.
  • You must have the Security Administration domain right to edit this parameter.
  • The default setting is No. When set to No, users can upload any type of file.
    Note:
If you set this parameter to Yes, but do not specify any file types in the File Upload Whitelist system parameter, users will only be able to upload a very limited number of file types required by the application.

File Upload Whitelist

Note:
This system parameter is available in Aprimo Cloud only.

  • This value must be specific to the data source you are currently accessing.
    Note:
Every data source must have a single, unique file store directory.
  • In addition to configuring this system parameter, you must complete the chapter titled "Configuring the File Store" in the Aprimo Installation Guide. The steps in this chapter explain how to configure the Aprimo servers so that file store requests are sent to a specific instance of the Utility service. In most cases, requests are routed to the utility service on the server that contains the file store.
  • In most cases, you can enter the physical location, relative to the server that contains the file store, such as C:\FileStore.

Group By Default

  • On an object's view page, you can sort attachments by group name or by creator. This system parameter controls the grouping you see when you first display the view page.

Maximum Thumbnail Dimension in pixels

  • Controls the size of thumbnails that appear for digital assets and attachments. This number controls the length of the longest side of the thumbnail. Specify the number of pixels for the maximum dimension of a thumbnail.
    Note:
The maximum size of the thumbnails that appear on the Folder View page and Slide View page is determined by the system parameter and the system parameter.

Notes Require Edit Security

  • When you set this parameter to Yes, a user must be able to edit an object in order to add, edit, or delete a note associated with that object. If the object is controlled by an access list, the user must also be on the object's view or edit access list.
    Example:
If a user wants to add a note to an activity, the user must have the right to edit activities. This user must also be on the specific activity's access list.
  • This system parameter works in conjunction with the Enforce Note Security system parameter. For more information, see Notes Security.
