Groups

A group is a set of users or roles that share the same rights. When you assign a user or role to a specific group, that user or role automatically receives the rights assigned to the group.

Example:
There are 3 people in your organization responsible for entering invoice information. Instead of editing each user record, you create a group named Invoice Entry, assign rights to the group, and add the 3 users to the Invoice Entry group.

Field Description
Finance Group

Select whether a this group has access to view, budget for, fund, or close-out funding accounts.

Finance groups are assigned to these 3 pieces of financial data:

Status

Select Inactive to disable the group from being used without having to delete the group.

It is a best practice to remove all users from an Inactive Group.

Domains

Determines the domains to which a group has been given access.

Finance groups are specific to 1 domain. Standard groups can be assigned in multiple domains.

Note:
Groups do not grant access to domains. If a user is part of a group with access to multiple domains, but that user has access to only 1 of the domains, that user can access only the domain to which their user record is assigned.

Users

From the Available Users list, move the users to associate with the group to the Selected Users list. When you associate a user with a group, the rights assigned to the group are assigned to the user.

Domain Rights

Select the rights for each domain selected for the group. Rights determine which modules the group's users can access, and which system functions they can perform in those modules.

It is best practice to remove all users from an Inactive Group in order to clarify what domain rights a user has.

Roles

Roles are used when designing project workflows to define the users and groups that are assigned to steps.

From the Available list, move the roles to associate with the group to the Selected list.
