Notifications: Concepts

Several modules can be configured to send email messages called notifications. Some objects that can be configured to send notifications include:

All notifications generated in Aprimo are routed to the Notification Management module in System Tools. You can use this module to view, edit, and delete the notifications that have not been sent, and view sent notifications.

The Aprimo Notification Service collects the messages from the Notification Management module and sends them to the intended recipients.

Note:
Messages sent using the batch option in the Interactions module do not appear in the Notification Management module until they have been released.

All notifications that have been sent from the application using Notification Management will be visible for 30 days after their individual sent date for auditing purposes. They will be listed in the Notification Management module of the Monitoring System Tools with a Status of “Sent”.

Rate limit

Email notifications are rate limited to send a maximum of 2000 emails per 60 minutes. If there are additional emails beyond this limit, they will be queued and processed over time as part of a managed process.

Key Fields

Field Description

Sender Address

Type the reply email address for the notification.

Use this address to notify the appropriate individual if a problem occurs with a notification, or if you are going to delete a notification.

Priority

Select whether this notification is ranked higher for delivery.

The application sends high priority notifications before the notifications with normal or low priority. The application sends low priority notifications last.

Status

Select the general condition of the notification, as it pertains to the process of sending it.

The status indicates this information:

  • Whether the notification is in the process of being sent.
  • Whether the notification is waiting to be sent.
  • Whether an error has prevented the message from being sent.
  • All notifications will be available for a 30-day period after they have been successfully sent.

Process ID

A Process ID is a unique number assigned to a notification. You can delete the Process ID if the Notification service did not collect the notification, and you want to send it the next time the service runs.

When you delete a Process ID, the application assigns a new value automatically. The new ID is collected by the Notification service.
