System Parameters: Campaign Tab

System parameters are settings that control how Aprimo operates in your environment. Some system parameters have preconfigured values that you can change to customize Aprimo to meet your organization's needs. You can edit system parameters when needed.

Tip:

To learn more about a system parameter, point to it to view a ScreenTip that contains this information:

  • A short description
  • The date when the system parameter was last modified
  • The user who last modified the system parameter
Caution:

If you edit a system parameter:

  • For Aprimo Marketing Studio 9.1, restart the Aprimo Utility Service and Internet Information Services (IIS) on each server in your environment.
  • Have users clear their web browser’s cache to ensure they see the changes.
Notes:
  • Be aware that most system parameters are domain-specific.

If your implementation uses multiple domains, you must log in to each domain separately and configure the system parameters.

  • Monitor disk space for user-created files.

Several system parameters are related to locations of user-created files. These include attachments, inbound forms, and update task pages. Depending on the number of users and how they use the system, they can create a large number of files. In many cases, Aprimo never automatically deletes these files. When you specify these files' locations, be sure the locations have ample disk space. Periodically check these locations to ensure they have sufficient room for future files.

  • Use the appropriate syntax for URLs and folders.

As you configure system parameters in Aprimo Marketing Studio 9.1, you specify URLs, paths, and folder names. Remember these guidelines:

    • When you specify a URL, start the address with http://.
    • When you specify a path, use Universal Naming Conventions (UNC).
Caution:

You can specify an absolute path. For example, an absolute path might start with C:\.

If you specify an absolute path for a system parameter, remember that this is a local folder on the Web server. If you use Aprimo in a multi-server environment, specifying an absolute path for a system parameter can prevent some features from working as expected.

Campaign

System Parameter Description

Allow Cross-Database Data Transfer

  • Determines whether data is forced to remain in its current database for segmentations that have a multi-database Universe. If you set this system parameter, data cannot be copied or output across databases.

Campaign Default Select Value Maximum Distinct Values

  • Determines the number of distinct values retrieved when a user views sample data for an attribute.
  • Increasing this system parameter's value increases the amount of time required to retrieve the sample data.

Campaign Default Select Value Sample Size

  • Determines the number of rows used to retrieve sample data when a user views the sample data for an attribute.
  • Increasing this system parameter's value increases the amount of time required to retrieve the sample data.

Campaign Preview Data Sample Size

  • Determines the number of subjects to use by default when a user previews data in a universe or views records for a segment.
  • Increasing this system parameter's value increases the amount of time required to retrieve the sample data.

List Output Tool File Path

Note:
This system parameter is available in Aprimo Marketing Studio 9.1 only.
  • In a segmentation, you apply the List Output tool to a segment to generate a list of target subjects, called an output list. This system parameter specifies the folder in which to store the flat files generated by a List Output segment.
  • The Ad Hoc Data module uploads data to this directory for use in segmentations.

List Output Tool URL

Note:
This system parameter is available in Aprimo Marketing Studio 9.1 only.
  • In a segmentation, you apply the List Output tool to a segment to generate a list of target subjects, called an output list. This system parameter specifies the URL of the location where the flat files generated by a List Output segment are stored.
  • The Ad Hoc Data module uploads data to this directory for use in segmentations.

Require Validation in Segmentations

  • The Validation Requirement field for a segmentation pertains to the automatic validation of scheduled segmentations. It determines whether the segmentation can run:
    • Without being validated
    • If it is validated and there are no validation errors
    • If it is validated and there are no validation errors or warnings
  • If you set the Require Validation in Segmentations system parameter to Yes:
    • For existing segmentations, the Validation Requirement field retains its user setting and becomes disabled, but the segmentation can run only if it has no validation errors.
    • For all new segmentations, the Validation Requirement field is automatically set to Must Validate with No Errors, and it becomes disabled. The segmentation can run only if it has no validation errors.
  • If you set the Require Validation in Segmentations system parameter to No, a segmentation's validation requirement is determined by the segmentation's Validation Requirement field.

Segmentation Send Email Agent Max Count

Segmentation Email Data Expiration

  • Specifies the number of days after which the data generated for an email campaign expires. After the data has expired, the email recipients cannot view an outbound message as a Web page or forward it to a friend.
  • For more information, see Email Deliverability Service Overview.

Segmentation Working Data Expiration

  • Specifies the number of days after which data in segmentation temporary tables is purged.
  • Data generated by List Output tools is never purged.
  • The default value is 0.

To make these service components operate most efficiently, limit the number of records they process during a polling period. This system parameter specifies the maximum number of records to process during a polling period from a database that Aprimo connects to through a native connection.
    Note:
In many cases, the number of records that need to be processed is greater than the number you specify for this system parameter. This is expected.
  • The value of the Data Chunk Size field in a data source overrides the value for this system parameter.
    Tip:
For performance reasons, do not set this value below 1000 or above 5000.

This system parameter specifies the maximum number of records to process during a polling period from a database that Aprimo connects to through an OLE DB connection.
    Note:
In many cases, the number of records that need to be processed is greater than the number you specify for this system parameter. This is expected.
  • The value of the Data Chunk Size field in a data source overrides the value for this system parameter.
    Tip:
For performance reasons, do not set this value below 1000 or above 5000.
