Creating Extended Attributes
Before you create an extended attribute, determine this information:
- The kind of object in which the extended attribute will appear.
- The kind of data that will be stored in the extended attribute.
Determining the extended attributes your organization needs and creating them when you initially configure Aprimo is a good idea.
For most objects, you can modify the layout of extended attributes to arrange them in a manner that is meaningful to your organization. If an object contains many extended attributes, customizing the layout can also make the object easier to navigate and edit.
After you create an extended attribute, it is immediately available for use. If you want to prevent other users from seeing the extended attribute until a later time, you can set its status to Inactive.
For information on how to enter information into extended attributes, see these topics:
For some objects, you can use system types to organize the extended attributes. System types help you categorize and define various objects, such as activities, attachments, digital assets, and invoices. Each system type corresponds to a specific attribute in an object, usually the Type attribute that appears on the object's Details tab. You manage system types in the System Types module in System Tools.
For these objects, you can create extended attributes and extended attribute sections that appear only when a specified type is selected.
If you create a type-specific extended attribute, you must place the attribute in a corresponding type-specific section.
