Internet Explorer Support Announcement

NOTE: Starting on July 31, 2020, users will no longer be allowed to access Aprimo using Internet Explorer 11. When a user tries to access Aprimo using IE 11 they will receive a message telling them it is not a supported browser and they must switch to using a supporting browser. The option to “Continue Anyway” will no longer be provided.

This is the final phase of the journey started almost 18 months ago. Starting in March, 2019, due to the reasons outlined below, Aprimo moved IE 11 to a non-supported browser status. In February 2020, we added a warning page to users telling them NOT to use IE 11 but allowing them to still continue through to provide a transition timeframe for those users to adjust. IE 11 usage has dropped significantly from all of this but we are still seeing usage of IE 11 and many customers have asked that we block the browser completely. As Internet Explorer continues to degrade in performance and stability as Microsoft continues to phase it out of their Operation System support, Aprimo has decided that we should no longer allow it to be used with the application.

Original Note: Starting on 02/10/2020 users accessing Aprimo with Internet Explorer 11 will start seeing a message indicating that they are using a non supported browser.

What:

Attention Aprimo customers, effective today March 18th, 2019, Aprimo no longer considers Internet Explorer 11 as a fully supported web browser with the Aprimo SaaS application. Aprimo will continue to offer fixes for security specific issues and will resolve functional issues that exist only if that issue can also be replicated in a fully supported browser. Our fully supported web browsers include Chrome, Safari and MS Edge. Customer may continue to use Internet Explorer 11 as a bridge/compatibility strategy while they work through a transition to a fully supported browser. Aprimo strongly recommends customers convert their users to leverage a fully supported browser as soon as possible because our testing has shown that users will see a general performance improvement with the use of Aprimo immediately.

Going forward, new feature development work will not be tested against Internet Explorer and customers wishing to participate in the Aprimo Early Adopter Program or use any new features once they are Generally Available will need to have access to a supported browser (Chrome, Safari or Edge).

Why:

Microsoft’s decided several years ago to shift in direction and no longer advance Internet Explorer 11 and only provide security patches for it. As a result, over the past several years, Aprimo (and the market in general) have seen usability and performance declining significantly within Internet Explorer 11 when compared to other leading browsers. Those browsers (like Chrome and Safari) are getting active continual improvements and functional advancements and as a result support more modern web development techniques and perform significantly better with web applications like Aprimo. Microsoft is actively pushing customers away from using Internet Explorer 11. For details of Microsoft support plans please refer to the follow support article(s).

What does this mean?

Customers can continue to use Internet Explorer today but it is strongly recommend to switch as soon as possible. Aprimo will only be provide very limited support for Internet Explorer and given the constraints regarding the state of the browser there will be issues Aprimo will not be able to remedy, especially if those issues are not present in our other supported browsers (Chrome, Safari or Edge). Also, there may be newly developed features that do not work with Internet Explorer 11 at all going forward. Customer wishing to leverage those new features will need to convert to using Chrome, Safari or Edge.
